Chemical Process Technician

The Dow Chemical has an opening for a Chemical Process Technician at the Newark, DE site. The Chemical Process Technician will assist in the manufacturing of aqueous mixtures, called slurry products, for the semiconductor polishing industry to include:
Operating assigned equipment in the plant.
Performing operations related activities per the work processes.
Utilizing chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
Working in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities also include:
Wearing varying types of PPE, including but not limited to: gloves, safety shoes, and goggles.
Follow operating discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operator of assigned plant areas.
Operate and check process equipment.
Evaluate product quality using Statistical Process Control (SPC) software interfaces.
Monitor process conditions, equipment and control systems.
Perform tasks associated with the job including equipment preparation, chemical handling, process verification, product SPC, and product containerization.
Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals.
Use troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
Initiate and participate in Root Cause Investigations as required and train others on plant operations.
Perform immediate response activities and manage unplanned events.
Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline.
Use measurements and tools to operate the Plant at optimum conditions.
Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventive maintenance utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines.
Utilize multiple and complex plant computer control systems.
Perform computer work, printing labels, filling out data in multiple database systems.
Read, edit and acknowledge Standard Operating Procedures.
Required
Qualifications:
Two or more years of manufacturing experience.
Must be able to work in a warehouse environment with varying degrees of temperatures and humidity.
Must be able to climb stairs, bend, squat, push, pull and perform overhead work.
Must be capable of:
o Repetitive forward bending at waist 15 reps/1 min
o Repetitive squatting 15 reps/1 minute
o Carry in left & right hands 20 lbs
o Carry in two hands up to 50 lbs
o Floor to waist 45lbs x 4 reps
o Floor to overhead 25 lbs x 4 reps
o Able to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
o Able to perform task wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as: respirators, protective clothing, face masks, goggles, boots, etc.
o Utilization of heavy machinery
o Some work requires manual dexterity & repetitive movements of the upper extremities

Must have the ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback in a respectful and professional manner.
Must be able to work overtime as required.
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills.

Must have good computer and technical skills, experienced in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
Must ensure a safe work environment by working safely, complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
Must be able to work in an empowered team environment.
Must be able to the evening shift (2 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday).
A current valid US drivers license is required.
A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Certification and/or Associate or higher degree in Process Technology / Instrumentation is an asset.
Four or more years of military training/experience in related technical field is an asset.
Two or more years of experience in a Process Technology role is an asset.
ForkTruck experience/certification is preferred.
Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP
Preference for experience in operating in a manufacturing statistical process control environment.
Computer proficiency in Excel and other programs for statistical process control.
Education:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is Required.
