Laboratory Assistant (Chemistry)
Please note that this is a 9 month contract assignment. Candidates cannot start an assignment until background check and drug test is completed
Assists technical personnel in general laboratory operations, maintaining laboratory facilities and equipment in accordance with Laboratory standards in order to help ensure the validity and integrity of experimental results.
Responsibilities: Responsibilities/Duties (briefly describe essential duties of the position):
Involved in various research projects for the Predictive Sciences group
Perform routine tissue culture of primary or immortalized cells
Perform studies using cell line-based in vitro assays
Perform DNA/RNA purification, PCR including primer design, reverse-transcription and quantitative real-time PCR
Perform library preparation for next-generation sequencing applications
Perform SDS-PAGE, western Blot, Elisa, immunoprecipitation, or other antibody-based methods
Preparation of buffers, basic wet chemistry calculations and performing serial dilutions
Writing and revising technical documents including lab standard operating procedures (SOPs), testing protocols and reports.
Statistical analysis of data and preparation of reports or research papers based on the results of the assays performed
Schedule maintenance or repair for lab equipment, order lab supplies and routine safety inspections
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
