Air Liquide Research and Development is seeking a Research Scientist to be located in Newark, DE.
Responsibilities:
The individual will be responsible for projects supporting biomarkets in fields involving pharmaceuticals and bioproducts.
The researcher will perform (but not be limited to) the following
Responsibilities:
Define scientific and technical specifications for research experiments
Support innovation in new biological mechanisms of action and process improvements
Methods development of biological assays and techniques
Design and perform cell culture/fermentation experiments in the lab
Be a technical lead in their field of expertise
Take active participation in project planning
Support technical transfer of projects
Serve as a safety role model, maintaining high safety standards and promoting improvements
Work closely with internal market groups and industry partners or customers
General
Qualifications:
M.S. with 5
years experience or PhD in chemical/biochemical/biological engineering (or equivalent). Demonstrated ability to bring innovations, improvements, and process modifications from concept to reality. Candidate should have an in-depth understanding of cellular assays, biological metabolism/physiology, principles of biochemical engineering, process engineering, and process data analysis. Previous work in bioprocessing and analytical development is required, with strong preference to those with experience in:
Development of bioanalytical assays including PCR, Western blot, IEF, SDS-Page, and chromatography
Molecular mechanisms, metabolic analysis, mass balance, and growth kinetics
Development of robust and scalable processes
Development of process control strategies
Reactor process scale-up/scale-down
Design of Experiment (DOE)
Self-starter, must be highly motivated to work independently, lead others, and work well in a team. Candidate is expected to have excellent written and oral communication skills. Potential patents in their area of expertise and willing to innovate are the major traits expected in the candidate. Individual should be results-driven while being flexible and able to adapt to changing conditions/priorities. A technical career ladder exists for scientists/engineers to progress their career based on expertise.
