Agronomy Scientist (BS/MS)

DuPont Crop Protection is seeking a motivated, capable_ Biologist to join its Global PS&R; Agronomy Biology team_. The successful candidate will work on all aspects of Agronomy and the optimization of Herbicides; including bioassay design, setup and execution. Participation in field trials and some travel (5%) may be necessary.
The focus of the work will be for Herbicide portfolio support and new Herbicide candidate optimization research. The successful applicant will report to Dr. Edison Hidalgo.
Job Duties
All aspects of work relating to the optimization of candidate herbicides, including compound dilution, formulation, application, bioassay design, setup, implementation and execution. This research may require field trial applications and numerous biological observations.
Field, growth chamber and greenhouse plant production and propagation as necessary to support research efforts
Plant culture and propagation techniques as necessary to support research projects.
Data collection, analysis and report generation using a variety of software programs. Familiarity with CPP data management systems a plus.
Photographic and microscopy experience, skills and interests also a plus
Ability to present summary technical results in both internal and external meeting formats.
Expectation that the successful applicant will attend regional and national scientific meetings to present research results and be able to publish their results in the relevant scientific literature.
Minimum Requirements:
B.S. in Agronomy, biology, horticulture, entomology or a closely related biological Field.
Comfortable working with biologically active chemistry and related seedling propagation & management technologies, including field and greenhouse trials.
Good written and oral communication skills - including presentation, publications and tour activities
Good computer skills required, including an understanding of MS windows operating system, NT server environments and typical (MS, Corel, Lotus Notes) office suite of applications that would be used for data collection analysis and report generation.
It is essential that this person enjoys, and works well in a team environment as well as in an independent capacity. Good written and oral communication skills are all valued characteristics.
