ChristianaCare is seeking a Physician Assistant or Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner-Acute Care who has a passion for inpatient pediatric care to join Christiana Pediatric Hospitalists (CPH). The APC will work collaboratively with the clinical team, social workers, pharmacists, family members and others to ensure safe care and seamless transitions.

  • Our Pediatric Hospital Medicine practice cares for children in the inpatient setting, including our inpatient pediatric until and our mother-baby unit. We also provide consultative services to the Emergency Department.
  • Our new inpatient pediatric unit at Christiana Hospital is specially designed for children and adolescents who need hospital care. The unit is fully equipped to provide acute, general pediatric care, including:
    • Specialized treatment for children who require electronic monitoring.
    • Treatment for children with infections or diseases that require isolation.
    • Providing respiratory support for children with respiratory conditions
    • Newborns with jaundice who need phototherapy.
    • Caring for children of teens recovering from surgery or trauma.
    • Caring for patients with mental health or behavioral conditions.
  • Our practice cares for the majority of the newborns born at ChristianaCare, a delivery center with 6500 annual deliveries.
    • Newborns room in with their birth parent, and almost all care is completed in the room with the family.
    • The post-partum unit is a modern, innovative space which opened in 2020.
    • APCs admit, manage, and discharge newborns from the inpatient setting in collaboration with the pediatric hospitalists.
  • The advanced practice provider will be responsible, but not limited to, the following duties:
    • Provides medical care to newborn and pediatric patients, including managing admissions to the hospital, following patients through their hospital stay, and management discharges from the inpatient setting.
    • Prepare patients and families for discharge, including providing family education and ensuring safe and complete transition to the outpatient setting.
    • Performs consultations on patients in the Emergency Department or inpatient setting.
    • Collaborates with physician, subspecialists, registered nurses, and other members of the health care team to provide direct patient care.
    • Following Departmental and Unit based policies and procedures.

Position Qualifications
  • Completion of a master's degree program and board certification as a Certified Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • License or license eligible as an CNPAC or Physician Assistant in the State of Delaware and Maryland
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience preferred.
  • Prescriptive Authority, DEA registration, BLS Required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
