VCA Kirkwood Animal Hospital, located in Newark, DE, is seeking an experienced and highly engaging Kennel Manager to join our hospital as part of our leadership team! About this role:
The Kennel Manager provides direct leadership support to the Kennel team. Under the direction of the Hospital Manager, Tech Team Lead and Medical Director, the Kennel Manager plans, directs, delegates, coordinates and performs a variety of duties concerned with all kennel staff including janitorial cleaning duties, keeping our patients clean and comfortable in their cages, ensuri9ng staff receives information from the previous shift and them communicate information to the next shift, and all other duties to maintain the flow and sanitation of the hospital. This role will include a combination of administrative duties, and technical duties, as well as oversight of safety protocols and ensuring a professional and respectful team environment is adhered to at all times. This is a hands-on role that will involve boarding patient care and hospital upkeep as well as management duties. The star candidate for the Kennel Manager role will act as a leader in the hospital by displaying teamwork, organization, professionalism, tact, compassion, integrity and quality patient care. This role will interact with VCA team members, patients and clients. The candidate will work to create new protocols and direct the kennel team to perform duties that facilitate patient care such as walking dogs, cleaning cages, bathing and keeping patients clean, administer medications to boarding patients, sweeping and mopping, disinfecting and other janitorial duties. The Kennel Manager will work with the Management team to hire and train new team members, as well as performing reviews and giving critical feedback to the Kennel team. Minimum Requirements o Prior Animal Care Experience. o Knowledge of dog and cat body language and behavior. o General animal care and handling experience. o You must be able to communicate well across different departments, with the hospital staff and with clients. Communication is in-person, by phone, through client file notes and via e-mail and text-message. o Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Outlook, as well as basic typing skills. Preferred Qualifications o 2
years Veterinary or Boarding Facility experience. o 2
years Supervisory experience in an animal-related field. Required experience o 6 months to one year of Supervisory experience. o 1
year of Veterinary Assistant/ Technician Experience OR 2

Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Allied Health Professionals, Healthcare ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
